Install

		Sometimes, it seems that connecting to non-OSI shards is more work than it should be, but trust me - the benefits of being on a shard that has YOUR same personal tastes, role-play fun, null and void of uBeR items / colors / people... well - Wood Chalice is the best and most decent place to Live your UO Life. The few steps below will detail how to get connected.
Step One		Download the two main files to be installed. There are other optional downloads, depending on how you like to handle your game play. Macros ARE allowed in Wood Chalice, provided they are not disruptive and not being activated in areas such as towns or highly frequented places. (No one likes to talk to a shell of a resident.) Downloads: Ultima Online: Most versions of UO will work fine on our shard. ConnectUO download the latest gateway version [or] connect through UOGateway, but for the most part it's trashed. RunUO's Razor (Optional) assists in game play Microsoft .Net 1.1 framework or greater to run Razor (Not optional if running Razor) UO Auto-Map (Optional) assists in UO Maps, most of Wood Chalice, too UO Wedding (Optional) assists in storytelling, weddings, guild initiations, etc UO Curse (Optional) assists in game cursing (Elizabethan style!) UO Tamer (Optional) assists in macros for training UO Rudder (Optional) assists in boat steering
Step Two		Install the files Ultima Online first then install ConnectUO. If you use the default pathways, it'll be easier in the future to upgrade when necessary. At the end of installing UO, it will ask you to create an account and log in. Just cancel out of those since you aren't going to be logging into OSI's UO. New icons will be on your desktop, one for UO (U and O on top of each other in a symbol of gold) and one for ConnectUO. Optional software can be installed after you get connected.
Step Three		Patch UO - one of the most important parts of running UO software, keeping up to date with the latest files that come out. Currently, updates are providing new artwork and events such as quests the the like that run on OSI. Those same artwork files, quests, creatures and scenarios are incorporated into Wood Chalice's server as we see fit. Most of them are utilized, occasionally, we deem them not necessary for normal residential role-play/living. (uBeR is out!) Locate the UO icon that got installed by default onto your desktop. You are NOT logging into UO, just getting patched. Double click on this icon, and let UO automatically download and install the patching files. The first time you do this after a fresh UO Software install, it could take some time. If you are on dialup - beware - these patches time out! You may need to follow UO's instructions on mending them if that happens.
Step Four		Linking to Wood Chalice - Setting up "My Servers" ConnectUO is the latest - and greatest - connection out there for independent Ultima Online shards. Click on Public Servers, then scroll through the list to find Wood Chalice. We can't determine where it is at any given time because they are sorted by how many folks are in game, how many votes, etc. Double click on the server's folder icon, which automatically adds it to your personal servers. On the left, click on My Favorites. This, and any time in the future to connect, double click on the Folder Icon. Give it a moment, and you'll be presented with the regular UO Login. This connects to Wood Chalice - DO NOT USE YOUR OSI ACCOUNT NAMES OR PASSWORDS! That's for your protection. If you use UOGateway to connect: Click on Public Servers > Click on the Title Name "Brand" > Scroll through the servers to the RP styles and down to Wood Chalice. Click on the WorldBit Gem at the far left of the line. That will automatically add WC to your "My Servers". Click on the My Servers tab, and click the same WorldBit gem again. RunUO will open the connection software. The first time you log into Wood Chalice, you can choose your User Account and Password. DO NOT USE OSI ACCOUNT NAMES or PASSWORDS! Subsequent entries will use the same information. Inside the UOGateway menu, you can click on the sheet of note paper which brings up the settings editor. You can choose to have Razor started automatically here, as well as a few other options. The defaults will work fine with Wood Chalice.
To Play -->>		Through UO Gateway: open the UO software, which will automatically start Razor if you have chosen. Click on My Servers > Click on the WorldBit gem to the left of Wood Chalice. Log in to WC with your new account name and password. DO NOT USE OSI ACCOUNT NAMES or PASSWORDS! That holds true for ALL of these free shards. Inactive accounts are nuked every 90 days - stay active and keep your "stuff." Submit Stories, History, Character Profiles, Events and News items to: Events @ WoodChalice.com
